National Education Policy 2020 is the first education policy of the 21st century and aims to address the many growing developmental imperatives of our country.This Policy proposes the revision and revamping of all aspects of the education structure, including its regulation and governance, to create a new system that is aligned with the aspirational goals of the 21st century.National Education Policy 2020 proposes that children in primary grades should be taught in their Mother tongue/Home language. This policy promotes multilingualism as multilingual education stresses using a student's mother tongue, or native language, to teach students and to make learning effective. Classrooms that use multilingual education use various strategies to help students learn in their native languages. Multilingualism enhances creativity, divergent thinking, and appreciation of local languages.?Hence, we can conclude that New Education Policy (NEP 2020) advocates Mother tongue as a medium of instruction across schooling.
