The correct answer is (i) and (iii) The Indian Councils Act, 1892The Indian Councils Act, 1892 increased the number of additional members in the central and provincial legislative councils but maintained the official majority in them. It was implemented on 20th June 1892. Hence the statement I is correct. In 1892, out of 24 members, only 4 were Indians. Hence statement II is incorrect. The act increased the functions of legislative councils and gave them the power to discuss the budget and ask supplementary questions. Hence statement III is correct. The act made a limited and indirect provision for the use of election in filling up some of the nonofficial seats both in the Central and provincial legislative councils.
