B.

C.

D.
Only I

Solution:

The correct answer is only statement II. Important PointsDue to various atrocities faced by peasants during the British rule, such as high rents, illegal levies, arbitrary evictions, and unpaid labor in Zamindari areas, there were a large number of peasant movements that took place. One important Movement among the peasant movement was Indigo Revolt (1859-62). The farmers were forced to grow Indigo plants to increase their profits. Farmers were discontent with growing indigo because of the low price offered and consequently, they launched a movement for the noncultivation of indigo in Bengal. A play named ‚¬ËœNil Darpan‚¬„¢ was written by Dinabandhu Mitra in 1858-59. And it was published in 1860, in Dhaka. The play depicted the treatment of the Indian peasantry by the indigo planters. It however became historically and politically famous after it was translated into English as "The Mirror of Indigo Planters" by Michael Madhusudan Dutta in 1861. Hence, only statement II is correct.
